The Ranchitos de Santa Fe neighborhood contains 40+ parcels of land nestled under the Ortiz Mountains and located near the historical villages of Cerrillos and Madrid in Santa Fe County . The gated community has a two+ mile long open space for horse-back riding, hiking, a minimum forty-acre lot size, reasonable HOA fees and sensible covenants—plus the best maintained gravel roads in the county! These gorgeous properties all have 360 degree views of the Sangre de Cristo, Cerrillos Hills, Ortiz and Jemez Mountains. Romantic views of Santa Fe lights glisten before you at night. Numerous petroglyphs, Indian ruins and petrified wooded areas are well known in this area.
The town of Madrid, once a booming coal mining town and then for two decades a ghost town, has been revived as a haven for movie making, artists and craftspeople with over 30 fine arts galleries and shops. The village also houses two bars/eatery with great patios and live music, a seasonal weekly farmer's market and a general store with a free library. Make sure to check out the Engine House Theater with great local shows, the Miining Museum, and KMRD, 96.9 FM (kmrd.fm), a fantastic community radio station. The historic Oscar Huber Memorial Ballpark with recently renovated kid's playground is a favorite destination for local families. The Madrid Volunteer Fire District provides fire and emergency medical services to the communities of Madrid, Golden and the surrounding area.
The neighboring town of Cerrillos is the country's oldest designated mining district, famous for once fabulous lodes of turquoise, silver, gold, lead and zinc during its boom of the 1800's. You will find the Blackbird Restaurant and bar and the Cerrillos Station, a community center with a dance/movement studio, gallery, convenience items, free library, hair salon, healing sessions, and seasonal farmer's market. The village also houses a mining museum and children's park as well as the Cerrillos Hills State park with educational programs, hiking and biking trails and historic mine information.
Ranchitos de Santa Fe is 35-40 minutes from Santa Fe. There are multiple building sites on each lot creating privacy and uniqueness among the soft rolling hills. Beautiful tree cover includes Pinon, Cedar and Juniper. Infrastructure include well-maintained graveled roads, automatic entrance gates, buried electricity (no poles!) and phone to each lot.
These estates are located off the beautiful national scenic byway, the Turquoise Trail/Rt. 14.
